Caliente, a DownBeat Award Winner and recipient of the Houston Press Best Latin Band Award, is the nationally recognized youth repertoire ensemble of Diaz Music Institute. Led by Grammy-Nominated Music Educator Top 10 Finalist Jose Antonio Diaz, Caliente is the only youth ensemble to receive the prestigious Houston Press Award.

Over the years, Caliente has performed alongside some of the music industry’s most celebrated artists, including Eddie Palmieri, Johnny Pacheco, Bobby Valentín, Ismael Miranda, Roberto Roena, Adalberto Santiago, Larry Harlow, Jimmy Bosch, Pete Escovedo, Dave Valentin, Brenda K. Starr, Poncho Sanchez, Michael Stuart, Danilo Perez, Nestor Torres, Jon Faddis, Brian Lynch, David Sanchez, Miguel Zenón, Ndugu Chancler, John Santos, Rebeca Mauleón, Conrad Herwig, Frankie Negrón, and Marlon Fernandez.
